More diversity please, 301 members on SSG; 226 on Slack

Hi everyone,

It’s a great milestone and we expect to continue to grow. I encourage you to continue to keep diversity in mind for our future members. Not only because I personally believe it is the fair and good thing to do, but I hope you are all planning to go global with your products and services so it makes plain business sense to build out our community with founders and investors from all regions and backgrounds. It could be anyone who feels locked out of the current startup ecosystem.

Please ask founders and investors to request invites at http://startupstudygroup.com/slack/

or they can email me directly at charlesjo@me.com.

Thank you in advance.

Have a great week!

Ssg notes 3/25/14

bit.ly/ssg-daily is our daily newsletter and I’m thinking that as our group is now 274 with 204 on Slack, it would be nice if members jotted down some notes from our daily Slack discussions.

JD is planning our 2nd virtual pitch event for 4/2. Please contact him directly on Slack @jd or @jdcarlu on Twitter for more info.

Please check http://ssg.space daily for good reads from our members as well as other startup thought leaders.

More Confidence!

More Confidence!

Instead of the ssg daily today, I am going to update an earlier post on our ssg slack:

The best thing we can help nurture at ssg is confidence. We now have 260+ members ranging from Oxford, Harvard, and creators of Wikipedia and MacRumors.com. And Wall St. types. We’ll continue to add. Never give up. Keep at it. Let’s succeed together!

And read and engage with our startup bloggers at http://ssg.space

Go go go!

focus

  1. We are crowdsourcing referrals/recommendations to women founders and investors.  Please use this link in http://ssg.space.
  2. We need everyone’s help with engagement on http://ssg.space as we are reaching out to awesome startup bloggers.  We want aggregate the best startup blogs for our education but also showcase our member bloggers who may have equal or better content than the top VCs and angels.  We should all be reading these anyway but if you can take a minute to comment, that would be great.  I encourage everyone to continue to blog (and of course build/test/ship products) but I need us to refocus to engagement :)
  3. Please sign-up and check out HubYard: Open Source Social Media Management by @shub (Slack) @theforthwall (Twitter).
  4. Stats: 253 members; 188 on Slack. Yes! the http://ssg.space has helped us grow!

  6. For those interested in ssg’s open source global legal forms project for startups, please contact Nathan (@nuclearpengy Slack/Twitter) for more info.

  26. Joe mentioned “A member proposed a very interesting idea by email.  Hoping he announces it soon to group as it may help all of us.” Not sure if I am doing this right, but here goes. I love digging into marketing-and sales-oriented technology, and I am happy to write a blog post telling the world how awesome it is. I would love to swap explorations with other startups. Outline: free trial, 1 hour of investment with the service, 1 hour of write-up. As an aside, our best converting traffic ever came from this post: http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/blog/2015/01/24/toutapp-payboard-ritetag/. If folks are interested, is there a place where they could post their name/email on Slack?
